FACCI
The FACCI foundation (Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation) is a non-profit organization located in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, founded in 2003 by a group of volunteer friends who, committed to developing activities focused on ensuring the needs of comprehensive medical treatment for children and adolescents with cancer, as well as to improve their quality of life.
Sponsored by companies and hands of solidarity, FACCI offers assistance to all children who are cared for at the Dr. Robert Reíd Cabral Children's Hospital (HIRRC) and other health centers in the city, contributing to increasing survival and quality of life. of these young people
WHY?
BMI, with a view to always being able to contribute a grain of sand to these organizations, took the initiative to carry out a blood donation day, which is always necessary for infants who are waiting for help, not only blood, but also certain derivatives that can be extracted from it, so that they have the possibility of a new opportunity to continue fighting against that disease such as cancer.
The union of BMI with the FACCI and Acropolis Business Mall was the beginning of this beautiful journey. Weeks of planning helped to collect more pints of blood than expected in just one day.
Mariuxi Mozo (Executive President of BMI) was the first person to donate, showing great joy at the start of this beautiful action. Mariuxi commented “Knowing that with the pint of blood that I was able to donate, I am going to help 3 children, makes me very happy. The process was safe, simple and fast. With joy I was able to see other donors and what was most evident was the satisfaction of helping others!" With the collection of a pint of blood, platelets, plasma and the same blood can be obtained, which can be directed to three different receptors, that is, with a pint of blood, one helps in three different ways.
The team that was made up of 2 interviewers, 1 doctor, 3 Bioanalysts and 2 assistants, on behalf of the foundation, the assistance of the marketing and support team of Acropolis Business Mall in conjunction with BMI, did a great team job achieving the objectives raised.
