Young people have become essential partners in the processes of change, their participation has been crucial to achieve a positive and more inclusive development around the world.
At present, new strategies have been undertaken at a global level where young people are no longer excluded, on the contrary, new generations have been empowered so that their ideas strengthen social changes, stimulate economic growth and improve technological innovation. To support this perspective, the United Nations (UN) designated August 12 as International Youth Day.
According to the UN, there are currently 1.8 billion young people in the world between the ages of 10 and 24, it is the largest youth population in history, which implies a greater commitment to work in order to guarantee adequate means and conditions. so that they can fully explore their capabilities.
Although young people have been able to take full advantage of the support from government entities, non-profit organizations, as well as groups created and directed by themselves, it is necessary to continue promoting collective support.
In this sense, responsible business participation can serve as an enhancer of the capacities and projects of youth groups. One of the main objectives of corporate initiatives should be to support education, since it is the best tool to achieve sustainable development and reduce social inequality through fresh ideas.
BMI has recognized the prevailing need to be actively involved in this aspect, for this reason, we have developed in conjunction with the FIU (Florida International University) a scholarship program for students of excellence.
This is just one example of the many initiatives that can arise to support youth. It is a work that will pay off gradually in society and it is up to us to try to maintain continuity.
